Two Chimney Breast Removals in Hayes, UB4

Two redundant chimney breasts removed from a Hayes home, with Building Control, closure of the voids and plastering included.

Project Overview

Project Overview

The owners of this Hayes property wanted two unused chimney breasts removed before carrying on with their refurbishment. Both projections reduced the usable space in the rooms and made furniture placement more awkward than it needed to be.

The Brief

The Brief

The brief was straightforward: complete the structural removals properly, deal with Building Control and leave the walls and ceilings made good so the client would not be left searching for several follow-on trades.

The Challenge

The Challenge

Even on a smaller chimney removal, the support arrangement and the condition of the surrounding masonry must be checked carefully. We also needed to control dust and protect the existing parts of the house that were staying in place.

Our Solution

Our Solution

We prepared the working areas, installed the temporary support and removed both chimney breasts in the approved sequence. After the structural inspection, we closed the exposed voids, repaired the surrounding wall and ceiling areas and applied a plaster skim.

The Outcome

The Outcome

The two rooms now have cleaner wall lines and more usable space. The work was signed off through Building Control, the completion certificate was issued, and the property was left ready for decoration.
